Posted on 25 June 2009

Membership sites are all the rage recently. Not only do they make you money, not only do they provide consistent recurring income but now they are easier to set up and manage. Of course you can have someone else set them up and manage them for you (like us…we love membership sites).

The recording is an interview I did with Stu McLaren co-creator of WishList Member a powerful WordPress plugin that turns your WordPress blogsite into a membership site and more! You can use this plugin to provide module/e-learning programs, deliver e-products and make valuable content available to your team, clients or other special people. :) Click to continue reading this post.

Got Broken Links?

Posted on 24 June 2009

I came across this plugin the other day when I was looking for a plugin to help me find any invalid links on my client’s new blogsite. You see, we transferred over 500 blog posts from TypePad to WordPress and I worried that some of the links in the blog would be invalid because some of the blog posts were over 3 years old. In 3 years websites, articles, blog posts etc may be taken down, deleted completely or moved to another url.

The broken link checker goes through all of your blog Click to continue reading this post.

Membership Sites for WordPress Lovers Only

Posted on 22 June 2009

If you like using WordPress, then you’ll love the resource that I’ve been using on my client’s blogsites, it’s called Wish List Membership.

Many people have tried to turn WordPress into a membership site but in the past it’s been quite tricky, time consuming and frustrating! I spent a good month trying to set up amember on my membership site 2 years ago. I was up until 5 in the morning trying to get it to work they way I wanted it to work

That’s why I was very excited when I found out about WishList Member last winter.

It’s a membership solution that was specifically built for WordPress and WordPress only.

The best part is, it has all the features you would want in a membership solution AND it is compatible with all of your other favourite WordPress plugins!

Plus, they’ve added some very cool features to make running and managing a membership site a whole lot easier.

Take a look at it for yourself. But if you have questions about WishList Member and you want them answered before you buy it, feel free to leave a comment on this post or ask me a question on Twitter.

Clean, Hip and Funky WordPress Themes

Posted on 22 June 2009

One of the top WordPress theme developers is Brian Gardner (@bgardner) of StudioPress @studiopress
His themes are beautiful, clean, hip and funky! My personal favourites are LifeStyle, Tubular (for video lovers or those who use video to promote their business) and Agent (for Real Estate agents but can be tweaked for any industry).

I love that Brian integrates the Featured Content Gallery plugin to highlight featured posts. I love that Brian also adds the latest functionality to his designs, just look at his Tubular theme.

So if you are looking to revamp your blogsite and make the most of the real estate on your blog, look cool, hip and professional consider a StudioPress Professional WordPress Theme

Blogsite Not Website

Posted on 29 January 2009

If you are confused by the benefits of a blogsite over a website you are not alone. Many people ask me “Sandra, why would I want a blogsite when I already have a website?” Others ask “Sandra, I hear that blogging is a great way to get my name out there but how do I start and should I have a website too?”  These are all good questions but let’s start with the basics.

What is a blogsite?

A blogsite is a blog with all the features of a website and much, much more. On the website side, you’ll have a static menu bar linking to your web pages (e.g. About Us, Contact Us). On the blog side, you’ll be able to publish posts, articles, promotions and tips without a degree in Computer Science. With a blogsite you’ve got the features of a website and the functionality of a blog all in one.

If you use a blogsite you won’t need a separate website or a separate blog. A blogsite is an “all in one” business tool!

What are the advantages of using a blogsite over a website?
